About the Author: Hubert Pleijsier is a Dutch national. Inspired by his older brother, a professional guitarist, he developed an interest in vintage guitars in the 1970s. During a four-year job secondment in the late 1990s to New York and Chicago he bought a beat up Washburn parlor guitar at a vintage guitar show and became fascinated by it. Prompted by the lack of available information regarding prewar Washburns and original maker Lyon & Healy, he started doing research about the company and set up a database containing particulars of more than 2,000 surviving Washburn guitars, mandolins, banjos and ukuleles. He also visited many reputable vintage instrument dealers throughout the U.S., who encouraged him to publish his findings. The author lives in The Hague, the Netherlands, with his wife and two children.
